Local Scholarships

Senior Information Packet 2023ALL SENIORS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THIS PACKET.  Please complete this questionnaire honestly and thoroughly. This will help your counselor assist you with your post-secondary plans, in writing letters of recommendations for college, and applying for local scholarships. *You may also wish to give a copy of this form to other teachers writing a recommendation letter for you.  Deadline is March 31st.

SCHOLARSHIPS BEING APPLIED FOR:

Dale Goad Scholarship – $100

Arrowhead Dog Agility Scholarship – $250

Federated Co-ops Scholarship – $200

Federated Co-ops Inc. is a cooperative supply and service business that has locations in the Wrenshall area.  They supply farm input products, propane and energy products to members of their cooperative, which also includes the former Cap-Trico Cooperative in northeastern Minnesota.  This company has chosen to donate funds to our organization to assist students and children with their education and citizenship goals.

Education Minnesota – Wrenshall Scholarship – $300

Funding for this scholarship is provided by Wrenshall school to support the educational pursuit of a future in education.

Kiwanis Golden K Scholarship – $500

The Kiwanis Golden K club of Cloquet primarily operates in the Civic and Social Organizations industry.  They provide an annual $500 scholarship to be presented to an individual that meets high academic standards and is prevalent in civic and social engagement.

Nathan Gould Scholarship – $500

This award goes to a senior boy or girl who has consistently demonstrated an exemplary quality of character, kindness, and compassion to others.  The nominees are students who are on track to graduate, though there is no minimum GPA requirement, and must also have accumulated the required volunteer hours per their school’s graduation requirements (verified by the guidance counselor).  The recipient must plan to enroll in a post-secondary program, i.e., technical, two-year, or four-year, the following fall. It is a $500 dollar scholarship available after the recipient’s first term of his or her post-secondary enrollment next fall.

Wrenshall Booster Club Scholarship – $600

Each year the Wrenshall Booster Club gives a $600 scholarship to a graduating Wrenshall student.  The Booster Club focuses on community service, volunteerism and good citizenship.  These are the qualities looked for in applicants.  The scholarship applications are due on May 1 and can be turned into Mr. Holter (Counselor).  The recipient of the scholarship will receive the funds after completing their first semester of school and then presenting the Booster Club with their grade transcript.

Marguerite E. Weiss Memorial Scholarship – $600

The Marguerite E. Weiss Memorial Scholarship is in memory of Marguerite Weiss who was a business teacher in the Wrenshall School District.  Marguerite never had children but always wanted a daughter.  Because of this, this scholarship is designated to go to a female interested in attending college.

Memorial Blood Center Scholarship – Dollar amount based on donation numbers throughout the year.

Every two seconds, someone needs blood—from premature infants to organ transplant recipients, cancer patients to accident victims.  Young individuals play an ever-more critical role in ensuring that we are able to provide a safe and steady community blood supply. With Memorial Blood Centers, school administrators, faculty advisors, and students alike have an experienced and dedicated partnership working to develop the next generation of leaders.

Over 100 high schools throughout the Twin Cities metro area, greater Minnesota, and northwestern Wisconsin annually partner with Memorial Blood Centers to help young people build a life-long commitment to community service as blood donors and as leaders in organizing and conducting successful school-sponsored blood drives.

Two unique program components—Student Scholarships and the High School Blood Drive Workshop—provide education, training, recognition, and financial support to graduating seniors in their post-high school academic pursuits.

Wrenshall School has been a committed member to Memorial Blood Centers for the past 25 years in hosting blood drives.

**The MBC Scholarship will not be administered for the 21-22 school year.

East Central Energy Scholarship – $1,500

East Central Energy (ECE) is an electric distribution cooperative serving over 58,000 member-owners in east central Minnesota den northwestern Wisconsin.  ECE began awarding scholarships in 1988 and, to date, has contributed over $795,000 to local students.  ECE is very pleased to present this scholarship in recognition to a student’s academic achievements and community service.
